Senior Property Accountant - 3-6 Month Contract

 

About the Opportunity

  • Train newly hired Property Accountants on the monthly reporting process, accounting policies and procedures, and accounting software functions
  • Assist Manager, Accounting to ensure that the monthly reporting and special project deadlines are met
  • Assist Manager, Accounting in the coordination of the quarterly and annual audit process, annual budget process, monthly reforecast and year-end process
  • Coordinate the integration of new properties into the accounting workflow and reporting structure
  • Review financial statements and corresponding working papers for selected properties
  • Prepare financial reports and SOX packages for selected properties
  • Perform monthly accounting functions, including balancing of sub ledgers to general ledger, posting journal entries, analyzing balance sheet accounts, and posting monthly tenant rent
  • Coordinate the input of bad debt provisions, bad debt write-offs and tenant security deposit adjustments
  • Prepare reporting and analysis as required by Manager, Accounting and Controller
  • Work proactively with the operations group to identify issues regarding the monthly financial reports and provide guidance on proper accounting treatment
  • Participate in the planning and presentation of accounting review sessions for the operations group
  • Participate in the training and implementation of new accounting policies and procedures
  • Support the IT department in testing and implementing new accounting software functions
  • Troubleshoot YARDI issues and provide YARDI support to property accounting and operational staff
  • Special projects and other duties, as assigned by Manager, Accounting and Controller

 

About You

  • Enrollment in a professional accounting program and/or 3rd year CPA or equivalent experience
  • 3 years related property management accounting experience preferred
  • Strong spreadsheet skills (Excel) a must, YARDI, or other real estate accounting systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to deal effectively and professionally in stressful situations
  • Independent, self-starter as well as a team player
  • Ability to take initiative in a client-focused manner and deal effectively with situations; work well under pressure
  • Take ownership of portfolio
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to draft, edit and format professional business correspondence

 

Pay Rate

$25 - $27/hour
