Senior Manager, Finance

This role demands experienced capability in a publicly traded environment to deliver financial service excellence. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, with direct exposure to executive management, this role plans, coordinates and monitors the Accounting and Operational Finance departments while providing support for the Company’s external reporting functions and other functional aspects of the Finance team.

About the Opportunity

Accounting and Reporting:

  • Prepares and reviews the monthly consolidated, subsidiary and department financial statements and operating reports for each Facility and Business Unit
  • Provides oversight of all accounting department functions including the review of journal entries, payroll, accounts payable accounts receivable and statutory reporting
  • Assists in the drafting of all TSX and public company reporting filings and documents, including the quarterly financial statements and MD&A for approval by the Chief Financial Officer
  • Prepares technical analysis in accordance with IFRS for all transactions and corporate accounting issues
  • Ensures the development, retention, integrity and security of the Company’s financial records library
  • Serve as primary liaison for external audit

Operations:

  • Provides oversight of the operational finance functions, including revenue reconciliations, inventory management, accounts receivable collections and other ad hoc initiatives required to support the businesses
  • Plans, coordinates and conducts company financial planning and budget functions according to protocol
  • Monitors and analyzes monthly operating results against budget, coordinate the variance analysis and recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of divisions and departments

Leadership:

  • Has a focus on operational and process improvement and driving efficiencies
  • Establishes and implements strategic vision for accounting departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
  • Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates accounting department staff

This position also supports the Chief Financial Officer in Mergers and Acquisitions, Corporate Finance and Treasury functions including:

  • Oversees the preparation of financial forecasts and quality of earnings as required for future analysis of company position
  • Assists in the due diligence process including the assessment of strategic fit and identification of risks
  • Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, manages the preparation of the valuations of mergers & acquisitions using complex financial models
  • Calculates and interprets Discounted Cash Flow, Internal Rate of Return, Earnings Performance Accretion, Payback Period, and EBITDA multiples
  • Prepares and monitors cash flow forecasts and assists with cash management initiatives
  • Participates in the administration of the Company’s corporate banking and debt processes
  • Assists with analysis and modelling to support capital structure decision making

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or commerce, or equivalent professional experience, with a CPA designation (CPA, CA preferred)
  • Minimum 2-4 years’ experience in a senior financial management position
  • Experience in a public company reporting environment
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions, financial planning and analysis, treasury and strong understanding of IFRS
  • Strong leadership and communications skills including critical thinking and decision-making
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal
  • Excellent knowledge in Microsoft Office products and accounting environments (i.e. SAP, Sage, JD Edwards, etc.)

Salary Range

$105,000 - $115,000/year
