Interim Controller - 6 Month Contract

Our client is sourcing for an interim Controller as a backfill due to special projects - 6 months contract.

 

About the Opportunity

  • Responsible for all aspects of accounting and control systems, guaranteeing the accurate presentation of financial results
  • Periodic financial reporting, management accounting and cost accounting
  • Manages accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, payroll and taxation
  • Maintains a system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of internal controls designed to mitigate risk
  • Actively participate, make recommendations and provide analysis on the execution of the strategic plan and initiatives
  • Prepare analyses and reports on cash flow activity and forecasting
  • Prepare, consolidate and distribute periodic reporting packages (P&L, Balance sheet, cash flow) and capital expenditure budgets
  • Provide advice to the management team on the interpretation of operating results and trends
  • Enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Ensures that all activities are conducted in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley, and all other internal policies and procedures
  • Act as the company's Compliance Officer
  • Provides an interface between finance and other departments
  • Completes statutory accounts process and liaises with group auditors as required
  • Supervising staff within the accounting team (team of 9)
  • Completes project work as required and participates in all reasonable work activities as may be deemed suitable and assigned by management

 

About You

  • University degree in Business/Accounting, with a professional accounting designation (CPA)
  • 5+ years of progressive management experience with knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing financial policies, procedures and systems, in a hands-on fashion, and will be adept at building and implementing controls and reporting systems that provide outstanding financial reports for decision-making purposes
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills in order to guide and support direct reports in accomplishing individual, team and organizational goals
  • Ability to hold a strong right hand to general management, and knows when to raise issues and concerns appropriately
  • Strong preference for candidates who have worked in an entrepreneurial, high growth environment in a privately held business
  • Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and knowledge of ERP accounting systems
  • Prior exposure to Microsoft NAV would be an asset Personal Attributes
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to quickly build credibility, rapport and relationships at multiple levels of the organization

 

Pay Rate

$45/hour
