Financial Specialist - 6  Week Contract

About the Opportunity

  • Ensure accurate and timely information is maintained in CRM and integrated into Great Plains
  • Ensure all CRM-related month-end reporting deadlines are met
  • Perform AR and revenue GL accounts reconciliations and other month-end duties
  • Liaise with each department and/or members for any payment issues, questions or concerns
  • Some filing and administrative duties
  • Assist with other duties when required

Daily and Weekly Duties:

  • Verify all daily cash receipts (cheques, lockbox, eTransfer, cash, etc.) and reconcile any discrepancies investigate variances and make adjustments where necessary.
  • Prepare and deliver daily bank deposits
  • Ensure follow up with staff on outstanding financial transactions and/or registrations to ensure data is current and up-to-date
  • Ensure that new product and meeting definitions are set up properly in CRM or verify those created by others staff (ensure that correct pricing, taxation and G/L accounts used)
  • Run the credit card payments delayed capture process; reconcile all credit card payments to the bank settlement report
  • Review and ensure the transfer clearing account is balanced in each batch on a frequent basis
  • Maintain unapplied cash account, and ensure that there is no unapplied cash account balance in any web batch; make adjustments through CRM to ensure that the outstanding balance of this account is accurate and up-to-date
  • Process retrievals from global payments for charge backs or member disputes.
  • Record NSF cheques in CRM; liaise with each department for the replacement of payment
  • Liaise with each department and/or members for any payment issues, questions or concerns
  • Maintain schedule for all instalment and post-dated payments received from customers, and secure all post-dated cheques; ensure timely deposit upon cheque dates
  • Collection of accounts receivable and maintenance of AR sub-ledger

Monthly Duties:

  • Monthly responsibilities include preparation of certain assigned monthly journal entries such as annual conference, hire authority, and royalty revenue, etc.
  • Complete CRM month-end duties, including reconciling, closing, and posting of batches and integrating of data from various sources, recognition of revenues, etc.
  • Ensure that all earned revenue, including partner revenue, is properly recognized; set up and maintain system for monitoring and tracking partner revenue
  • Complete and enter monthly journal entries, including recognizing deferred revenues on a monthly basis, and maintenance of relevant schedules
  • Assist with monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts (i.e. Credit Card Reconciliation, deferred revenues, various A/R accounts, etc.)
  • Manage manual invoices in a timely manner with a high level of accuracy, and follow up on outstanding manual invoices and ensure timely collection

Other Duties:

  • Complete various ad-hoc reports/analysis including detailed analysis of certain revenue accounts for management reports and/or forecasting, maintaining aged accounts receivable reports; developing and maintaining documented procedures for the position; recommending changes in current processes in order to improve service levels and/or efficiencies
  • In conjunction with IT staff, implement process improvements in the finance area, including streamlining of functions using Microsoft CRM and other technology when appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned

About You

  • At least three years of accounting experience
  • Formal education in accounting is necessary
  • Demonstrates experience in analyzing and interpreting financial data and reconciliations
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills
  • Attention to detail is critical to success
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written), including fluency in English
  • Ability to work well in teams as well as independently; willing to help out others whenever required
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Excel.
  • Working knowledge of Great Plains/Microsoft Dynamics, CRM, would be an asset

Pay Rate

$20 - $24/hour
