Finance Manager

The Retail Financial Analytics team is focused on providing impactful reporting and analyses to the business to manage and drive a reduction in Total Loss which includes, Inventory Shrink, Vendor Claim Adjustments and Inventory Damages totaling over $100M of annual expense. 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance, Retail Financial Analytics the Manager, Finance, Retail Financial Analytics will be responsible for supporting the team to generate insights on retail performance that influence business decisions and improve future profitability. This position has three direct reports.

About the Opportunity

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • Support the periodic forecast requirements by building on historical performance, normalizing for one-time events and incorporating known financial impacts with commentary for all assumptions
  • Lead the annual planning process by managing the key individual Total Loss accounts and ensure plan assumptions and initiatives are included for all Retail Stores
  • Build and improve processes and tools as required to assist the team in preparing the annual plan
  • Prepare and communicate financial analysis for each Total Loss account by providing standard analytics, volume/mix and rate analysis, variance commentary, and management reporting
  • Identify and communicate risks and opportunities

Business Partnering & Insight Generation

  • Partner with cross functional teams (e.g. National Operations, Loss Prevention, Internal Audit, Category Management, Finance, etc.) to understand and support business decisions through insights and recommendations
  • Synthesize large amounts of data to drive insights and improved business performance
  • Develop and prepare performance reporting to support Total Loss Initiatives highlighting performance through key performance indicators (KPI)

Financial Period End Close

  • Support period-end close requirements for each Total Loss account

Store Reporting & Analysis

  • Maintain and enhance existing weekly and periodic reporting and insights sent to stores and senior management
  • Collaborate closely with internal and external data experts to build and extract appropriate and accurate data sets to support performance reporting
  • Investigate and make recommendations for process improvement in addition to supporting continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies

Team Management

  • Coach, mentor and develop direct reports in an open and collaborative environment

Other Responsibilities

  • Support ad hoc projects and initiatives as required

About You

  • CPA designation; Minimum 5 years of experience in a related Finance role
  • Drive for continuous improvement and an ability to challenge existing processes
  • Exceptional analytical abilities, quality driven, and detail oriented
  • Project management skills with the ability to leverage resources (people, processes, departments, tools) to complete objectives effectively and efficiently
  • Strong problem-solving skills and possess the tenacity to find solutions
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong leader and team player with the ability to collaborate, drive team effectiveness and develop talent
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with macros would be an asset

Salary Range

$75,000 - $85,000/year
