Director, Financial Reporting and Accounting

About the Opportunity

The Director, Financial Reporting & Accounting will, for the medium-term, assist with the transition from IFRS to US GAAP which goes live in April 2019. This position will research accounting policies, provide support for non-routine transactions and assist the External Reporting and Operation Finance teams with technical accounting support. In additional to the project based work, this position will  support the preparation of the quarterly and annual financial statements and Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) along with other related responsibilities. This position will be heavily involved with accounting for new leasing standards as well as accounting for acquisitions.

As the Director, Financial Reporting & Accounting You Will:

• Research and monitor accounting standards and regulatory guidelines; participate in the impact assessment and adoption of new standards and guidelines and make recommendations to management
• Key member of project team responsible for the conversion to U.S. GAAP accounting standards and the development of U.S. financial reporting processes
• Develop, implement and maintain a company-wide accounting policy manual
• Support management in the assessment, accounting and documentation of non-routine and complex accounting transactions
• Assist with implementation of accounting policies and internal controls
• Assist with review and preparation of the MD&A, financial statements, audit committee report and press release on a quarterly and annual basis to ensure accuracy and completeness of information
• Liaise with auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits; assist with issue resolution and technical analysis
• Review of monthly and quarterly bank reporting and regulatory financial statements
• Conduct financial analyses and prepare reports and/or working papers to support financial reporting requirements and management decision making

About You

• Results oriented individual who will manage deliverables to completion
• Detail driven and accurate
• Can multi-task, be flexible, prioritize deliverables and meet tight deadlines
• Great communication skills (both verbal and written) and can communicate effectively with senior management and across numerous departments, with a focus on customer service
• Able to work both independently and in a group setting

• CPA designation or equivalent
• 5+ years of relevant experience, including experience working in publicly traded companies
• In-depth understanding of current IFRS accounting standards
• Experience with U.S. GAAP accounting standards and SEC filings

Salary Range

$125,000 - $135,000/year
