They require a leader who can appreciate the work that the current team has done, but who can also look for ways to improve the existing development practices. Development Team Lead - 5 Month Contract

About the Opportunity

  • Provide technical leadership, training on best practices and code reviews to other developers
  • Review existing code and work with the current team on identifying areas for code improvement
  • Review existing policies and procedures identifying areas for improvement while encouraging the team on things that they are doing well with constructive criticism and positive reinforcement
  • Create clean, reusable code and enforce coding standards and best practices
  • Brainstorm with a dynamic team to identify new ideas and/or investigate tricky bugs
  • Reporting to the Divisional Manager you will be responsible for taking a solution from start to delivery – helping with the integration interfaces, data architectures, and deployment architectures to deliver a final solution that works end-to-end
  • You will be responsible for doing code reviews and providing feedback
  • Participate in requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders and get to the bottom of what’s actually needed for a given project then be able to articulate a technical solution that meets the goals of the solution
  • Be able to create workflows using the technology supported by a given package solution
  • Troubleshoot and find solutions to technical problems – and there are many when you try and integrate systems with off-the-shelf software with homegrown systems
  • Optimize existing functionality for improved response times
  • Prototype code with your first draft and then fine tune later, in a team developer environment
  • Debug and resolve platform issues reported by our users
  • Roll out new features and analyze (and react) to the results you discover from our system services and user feedback
  • Conduct daily check-ins to assist other developers
  • Participate in regular iteration meetings

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related disciplines
  • 5+ years as a Senior Developer with 2+ years as a hands on Team Lead
  • A can-do attitude towards impossible deadlines and rapidly changing requirements
  • Demonstrated technical capabilities are a must, as are people skills. This position requires an ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a range of stakeholders; able to converse on the same level with the business about software development and then work with developers to deliver the solution
  • Superior communication skills both written and verbal are mandatory
  • Experience with one of the following C/C++/Java/PHP
  • Experience with Linux system (Bash shell commands)
  • Experience with native JavaScript (without library)
  • Experience with ESLint
  • Experience with advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks ( Vue.js)
  • Experience with one of the following Grunt/Gulp/Webpack

Should have:

  • Experience with one of the following Apache/Nginx
  • Experience with MySQL
  • Experience with Nodejs
  • Experience with CSS/HTML
  • Experience with Git
  • Experience with development based on REST API Structure

Good to have:

  • Experience with Multi-platform development (Web apps)
  • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
  • Experience with native app development
  • Experience with Jira
