Commodity Tax Specialist - 2 Month Contract

About the Opportunity

• Provide information and support as required to enable external tax advisory services GST/HST organizational health check and compliance review of smaller pension plans
• Provide information and support as required to address provincial tax audit(s)
• Connect with internal stakeholders to gather required information and documentation to support positions or advisory service inquiries
• Support returns and rebates for divisions and Pension Plans for accuracy, completeness of filings and elections as required
• Ensure processes and related documentation support compliance requirements under any Provincial and Federal Acts
• Build and implement, with the help of internal resources, appropriate processes and related documentation to address any gaps or follow up actions identified through audits or other advisory services
• Support training of internal departments and finance employees by developing guidelines, training materials, and job aids as required
• Review adequacy of tax positions

About You

• Degree in Business of Finance
• Accounting designation
• Work experience in commodity tax (GST/HST, QST, PST)
• Experience interpreting, analyzing and applying tax legislation
• Strong analytical skills
• Resourceful with initiative to seek input as required
• Advanced MS Office skills (Excel)
• Good organization skills and ability to work under pressure and multi-task
• Strong communication skills, with ability to simplify complex concepts into written and verbal communications
• High attention to detail

Pay Rate

$40 - $45/hour
