ARE YOU A SEASONED ASSISTANT CONTROLLER LOOKING TO UTILIZE YOUR EXPERIENCE? Our client is seeking a designated professional on a full-time basis.

 

Assistant Controller

This is a key position within the Finance Department responsible for the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements. The Assistant Controller will be expected to identify key issues and priorities and make solid decisions based on sound business principles and professional judgment ensuring that regulatory requirements are met.

 

About the Opportunity

  • Drive excellence in all aspects of reporting (statutory and management); champion financial statement preparation and monthly/quarterly/annual reporting
  • Lead day-to-day operation of the accounting department, ensuring financial transactions are accurate and in accordance with policies, contractual requirements and other applicable regulatory orders
  • Partner with the Planning team to monitor and escalate variances to budget
  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring efficient completion of all period close functions
  • Review account reconciliations, inclusive of capital spend and impairment
  • Relationship lead to our AR and AP US partner; ensure all responsibilities are discharged
  • Lead tax reporting to the US team and engage with external consultants in the preparation of annual tax returns
  • Daily cash management; oversee cash forecasting to the US team
  • Establish accounting and control procedures to ensure a robust and compliant internal control environment
  • Own the Business Continuity Plan
  • Administer financial component of all capital and operating leases, ensuring accurate monthly and annual reporting and completion of reconciliations
  • Demonstrate leadership and coaching skills by developing a highly motivated direct report
  • Engage cross functionally on strategic projects through providing guidance, knowledge and information to support decision making

 

About You

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, or Accounting
  • CPA designation
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, inclusive of 1+ years at a supervisor/managerial level
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills are essential
  • Highly motivated with a strong drive for continuous improvement
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask detailed projects
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Sound business acumen, strategic thinker and analytical skills

 

 

Salary Range

$75,000 - $85,000/year
