Accountant - 6 Month Contract

About the Opportunity

• Maintain financial records for subsidiary companies by analyzing balance sheets and general ledger accounts
• Provide financial status information by preparing special reports and completing special projects
• Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded, including payroll, bank, and accrual entries
• Correct errors by posting adjusting journal entries
• Maintain general ledger accounts by reconciling accounts receivable detail and control accounts; adjusting entries for amortizations/pre-payments; analyzing and reconciling retainage and accounts payable ledgers; preparing fixed asset depreciation and accruals for subsidiary companies
• Prepare financial reports and ad hoc requests as required and requested by the Controller
• Assist with special finance and accounting projects, including accounting system upgrades and automation
• Prepare monthly tax filings for various jurisdictions and subsidiaries

About You

• Proven experience as an Accountant, 2-3 years’ experience preferred
• University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Highly organized with great attention to detail
• Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software (e.g. QuickBooks preferred)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Pay Rate

$18 - $23/hour
