UI Developer – 12 Month Contract

Do you take pride in your code and love taking proprietary legacy systems and updating them using cutting edge technologies? Our client located in Toronto is hiring a UI Developer to join their team!

About the Opportunity

• Participate in the redesign of the client’s in-house internet based product
• Develop and design single page applications using modern dynamic frameworks such as AngularJS, ReactJS etc. in accordance with provided design, technologies, methodologies, guidelines and policies
• Work alongside the current developers to ensure that all knowledge of the current system is transferred and the scope of work is accurate
• Set the direction for the project while offering advice on technologies, development best practice and project scope based on your experience
• Work with users, managers, department leads and management to ensure all requirements are realistic and advise on changes, etc.
• Troubleshoot technical problems and document issues as well as potential resolutions while ensuring that you communicate the appropriate team, etc.
• Create effective automated unit and integration tests for systems developed or enhanced
• Adhere to predefined testing processes and methodologies or help define new processes where applicable
• Participate in code reviews and provide detailed feedback to ensure compliance with programming standards as well as code optimization and refactoring to improve efficiency and design
• Work with the development team and manager as required to define technical and application roadmaps and participate in initiatives to prototype solutions
• Ensure that the code is documented and updated in the version control database regularly

About you

• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in application/software development with a focus on UI / UX based design
• A minimum of a 3-year diploma/degree in technology with 5+ years of related development experience
• Demonstrated professional experience working on large Intranet and mobile application projects
• Demonstrated professional experience developing highly performant intranet / web as well as mobile applications
• Sound experience creating platform style guides and communicating style philosophy to business analysts and peers
• Understanding or experience with MVC, preferably on Microsoft.NET platform
• Superior knowledge of HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON
• Understanding of API description languages such as WSDL, WADL, RAML, Swagger as well as experience with SOA, WebAPI and RESTful Services
• Superior knowledge and experience with one or more toolsets / libraries such as Angular JS, ReactJS, Bootstrap, SignalR etc.
• Strong understanding of Single Page Application architectures and Responsive Web design
• Strong working knowledge of development testing methodologies (unit testing, integration testing)
• Technical understanding of Impersonation, authentication, micro services will be an asset
