Treasury Manager - FP&A

Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Manager, Finance – Urban Infill will function as the Finance point person to the Urban Infill Division. This incumbent will work directly with the Urban Infill Division management team regarding operations, and with the Director, Finance, will be responsible for managing the analysis, budget planning and processes, financial modeling and consolidating reporting to provide valuable insights in support of operating and strategic planning initiatives.

About the Opportunity  

  • Work with the Director, Finance, to provide the Urban Infill management team with decision support and proactive financial management
  • Work with the Director, Finance, to develop key performance metrics, reporting and analysis as well as to prepare financial plans and models to support the strategic plan
  • Present these reports and trends to the Urban Infill General Manager and management team for review and discussion, and corrective action
  • Work closely with the Financial Reporting and Accounts Payable team members of the GTA Finance Department in order to understand and report back on all finance related operations to the Urban Infill management team
  • Prepare special reports relating to the profitability, projections and other financial modelling to support decision making, financial feasibility and new business initiatives
  • Conduct sensitivity analysis to determine impact of changes to underlying assumptions on annual and strategic plan
  • Provide timely and accurate analysis and information to the General Manager, Urban Infill with respect to Return on Investments (ROI) and Return on Equity (ROE)
  • Analyze budgets and “Up to the Minute Forecasts” for all Division entities (including Land Development, Building and G&A Expenses), providing reports on variances, trends, and control standards and practices
  • Support the Director, Finance in providing the Urban Infill Division with second level review and analysis of Proformas prepared by the Urban Infill Project Directors for viability, accuracy and sensitivity
  • In conjunction with the Financial Reporting team, complete monthly and quarterly forecasts to budget variance analysis with commentary
  • Analyze and identify trends in key performance drivers to facilitate the review of actual financial results compared to the budgets and forecasts
  • Continuously seek to improve the quality and efficiency of these reports, including enhancing the budget modelling and seeking opportunities to streamline analysis and processes
  • Maintain strong working relationships with the Urban Infill Division team members as well as the GTA Finance Department, and work proactively to identify opportunities and mitigate risks
  • Liaise with the Joint Venture partners to Urban Infill projects as required; collaborate and support the Financial Reporting team with respect to budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting and forecasting for Urban Infill’s joint venture projects
  • Provide support and/or lead ad hoc projects as necessary

About You

  • University degree, with a focus in finance or accounting
  • Accounting designation CPA (CA, CMA or CGA), CFA or MBA
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Senior Analyst - Financial Planning and Forecasting role in a medium-to-large finance team, as well as previous experience and exposure to financial reporting and accounting processes
  • Knowledge of financial modeling and analysis best practices is a must
  • Knowledge of financial reporting and accounting practices
  • Experience with developing financial planning and forecasting modelling, particularly in Excel
  • Experience with JD Edwards or a comparable cross-industry ERP system would be strongly preferred
  • Experience working on joint venture financials would be a strong asset
  • Excellent financial modelling and planning skills, with a track record of continuous improvement
  • Advanced financial analytical skills and problem-solving
  • Strong customer focus with excellent relationship building and a collaborative working style
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current Canadian accounting standards under ASPE
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Performance management and people development experience, along with the capability to team build and foster strong relationships
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented with the ability to think strategically
  • Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and personal integrity
  • Demonstrates competence in MS Office applications; ability to quickly learn and demonstrate functional competence with financial systems

Salary Range
$100,000-$110,000/year
