Supervisor - Lease Accounting

About the Company

Our client is engaged in the development and management of commercial real estate globally. Their business is growing and they have a requirement for a new Supervisor of Lease Accounting. This role requires an individual to have two or more years of supervisor experience in lease accounting and administration where the candidate has supervised at least three individuals. This is a global organization that will provide the candidate with extensive long-term professional development opportunities.

About the Opportunity  

  • Manage and monitor the team's work to ensure overall accuracy and timeliness of all invoice related processes. Establish priorities for the unit and ensure that unexpected lease agreements are effectively accommodated, monthly deadlines are met and outstanding issues are followed up on a timely basis
  • Oversee the administration of commercial office, retail and residential leases, including system lease input sign off, monthly rent rolls (tenant billings), and fixed asset lease acquisition cost setup and amortization. Process monthly rent rolls to ensure accounting activity is correctly recorded
  • Work with the leasing team to ensure that property building managers and owners association records are accurately maintained and that all executed leases, current and future are inputed into CTI the system accordingly
  • Oversee the annual tenant operating and tax recoveries process, working with the regional office accounting staff and property managers. Liaise with the external auditors conducting audits and ensure that they have access to all of the required information to complete the audits. As required, assist the team members with the tenant recoveries and ensure that all recoveries are completed by the deadline noted in the lease agreements 
  • Oversee the annual tenant operating, tax and electricity prebill rate reset
  • Assess and recommend solutions to staff on day-to-day transactional issues
  • Identify potential problems and areas for improvement and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Assist the third party client reporting team with revenue analysis
  • Ensure the lead admin team is trained to complete their assigned responsibilities and are compliant with real estate accounting and admin procedures 
  • Perform all activities related to the management of department staff including hiring, training, coaching, motivating performance assessment and development. Prepare and conduct performance appraisals. Identify training needs to effect performance improvement and staff development

About You

  • CPA preferred or equivalent experience
  • Progressive 5 years’ experience in an accounting role
  • 2 years supervisory experience in an accounting role
  • Strong knowledge of real estate lease administration policies and procedures

Salary Range
$75,000-$80,000/year
