Senior Payroll Clerk - 3 Month Contract to Perm
About the Opportunity
- Analyze payroll discrepancies and deduction liabilities
- Maintain and update master files for time entry
- Set up new employees in the payroll system
- Investigate query entries on time sheets, which appear to be inappropriate in light of collective agreements
- Ensure payroll information is transmitted to the payroll vendor
- Investigate error reports for all discrepancies and rectify them
- Produce cheque requisition for RRSP, garnishees, prepaid leave and credit union
- Prepare pay slips for distribution
- Notify department with any discrepancy in the pay
About You
- Candidate must pass a two-step TB test from their doctor (typically takes around 10 days to complete)
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification completed or in progress
- Recent work experience in a payroll or finance work environment required
- Demonstrated experience locating, interpreting and applying policies, procedures,
collective agreement language and related government legislation (e.g. Employment Standards Act, Tax Regulations) - Demonstrated experience performing accurate numerical computations and analysis
- Intermediate level of skills in MS Office (Word, Excel), Email, Internet and experience with databases and generating reports required. Experience with Virtuo Pay and Crystal Reports preferred
- Accurate keyboarding of 40 words per minute
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Satisfactory attendance record
Pay Range
$22-$24/hour
