LOOKING FOR AN EXPERIENCED SENIOR INTERNAL AUDITOR. Our client is looking to fill a 13 month opportunity.

Senior Internal Auditor

Our client is looking to fill a 13 month contract opportunity covering a maternity leave for a Senior Internal Auditor. This role reports directly to the Manager of Internal Audit. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, performing and reporting on financial, operational and regulatory internal audits.

About the Opportunity  

  • Perform financial, operational and regulatory internal audits as assigned by the Manager of Internal Audit; ensure that the audit plan is completed on time and on budget
  • For each audit project, identify the scope, design the audit program and perform a risk and control assessment using the company’s audit methodology
  • Evaluate processes and internal controls for efficiency, effectiveness and compliance to corporate policies
  • Prepare audit work papers to document test results, findings and conclusions
  • Prepare an Audit Report with findings and recommendations and present the report to Management
  • Periodically follow-up on outstanding Management Action Plans (MAPs) to determine if historical issues have been resolved
  • Conduct special investigations, assignments or ad hoc Management requests as directed by Manager of Internal Audit
  • Travel to locations within Ontario (10-15% travel required)

About You

  • Must have a recognized university degree and a professional accounting designation (CPA,CA, CMA, CGA)
  • 3+ years’ experience in internal or external auditing
  • A CIA, CISA or CFE designation would be an asset
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation), excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to speak confidently with Senior Management
  • Thorough understanding of IIA standards and interpretive guidance as well as practical application of audit techniques
  • Moderate to advanced proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PPT, Visio, Outlook)
