Senior Financial Advisor

About the Opportunity  

  • Oversee the internal control, accounting (6 accounts payable and payroll), leasing other functions of the organization, ensuring compliance with company policy and all relevant regulatory requirements, including provides structure and monitors the implementation of financial controls.
  • Works with the contract department and cross functional teams to identify cost saving opportunities and develop initiatives and lead implementations
  • Lead budgeting and financial assessment of new business opportunities. Work closely with management to assist with the development of the annual budget to maintain accurate and timely submission of plans
  • Proactively seek opportunities for process improvements to deliver required objectives including: cost-saving efficiencies, standardization, improved internal controls, service improvements and service delivery
  • Provide analysis of financial performance vs. plan & forecast and initiates change when necessary in conjunction with the corporate finance and execute analysis of business initiatives and makes recommendations based on results
  • Mentor and coach Finance staff to develop and foster talent; utilize a hands-on approach to resolve major issues and promote a team approach to problem solving
  • Monitor drivers for the cost increases and implement approved initiatives to control the costs
  • Develop financials presentation materials for CFO, senior management and Finance and Audit committee
  • Meet established internal and external deadlines to ensure timely financial reporting and other key metrics
  • Assist with preparation of quarterly and year-end audit files and process; liaise with external financial auditors
  • Develop and implement department budget financial reports enhanced financial/business reporting, business case development, costing and pricing analysis
  • Special projects as assigned

About You

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting required and CPA Accounting designation
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees
  • 10-15 years of progressively responsible accounting and finance experience and at least seven or more years of management experience at the director level 
  • Proven success in change management and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong business acumen and financial modeling experience
  • Experience developing and using business analytic tools
  • Superior analytical and communication skills with the ability to lead structured meetings and deliver message to management
  • Thorough knowledge of financial and accounting practices and procedures
  • Advanced leadership skills driven by values that support the objectives of the organization
  • Experience managing accounting functions including: accounts payable, processing, accounting, banking and payroll
  • Must have experience translating financial data into information that can inform managerial decision-making, and experience creating 3-year financial projections
  • Working within healthcare and finance are assets
  • Must be a detail oriented, analytical, proactive problem solver and creative thinker
  • Well-developed communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization
  • Highly self-motivated self-starter, with a pro-active problem solver and a continuous improvement mindset and customer service focus to set and deliver personal and team results and creative thinker
  • Proven ability to work with and in a team environment with a collaborative work style
  • Strong in accuracy, consistency and efficiency, and will naturally focus on being careful and precise in dealing with data
  • Able to approach problem-solving in a logical, structured manner
  • Strong desire to follow through on tasks to completion with a high attention to detail
  • Able to balance multiple processes and projects
  • Well-developed organizational, time management and decision-making skills
