Senior Buyer

Our Client is looking for a Senior Buyer - Direct and Indirect procurement to assist the VP Finance

About the Opportunity  

  • Responsible for the preparation and processing of purchase orders and relevant documents in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Maintain updated purchasing records and vendor files
  • Coordinate with user departments and suppliers in the purchasing scope of work for projects assigned
  • Support relevant departments with quotations for the purpose of tenders
  • Monitor and co-ordinate deliveries of items between suppliers to ensure that all items are delivered to site on time
  • Source, select and negotiate for the best purchase package in terms of quality, price, terms, deliveries and services with suppliers
  • Plan and manage inventory levels of materials or products
  • Resolve problems and issues that may arise with incorrect or incomplete product deliveries, supplier problems, invoice discrepancies, etc., using problem identification and resolution models
  • Develop and implement systems that ensure that goods, products and services are acquired at the best price, quality, quantity, time needed and from the best sources through continuous operational and supplier review, evaluations and improvements
  • Establish, maintain and manage a network of qualified and dependable sources of supply using supplier performance matrix and capability checklists
  • Leverage the supply base toward increased purchase volume through limited select suppliers for same or like goods and services to reduce costs
  • Collaborate actively with end users to understand their goals and objectives as they relate to procurement, products/services needed, supplier sourcing and supplier capabilities to ensure needs and objectives are met
  • Provide end users with data, research and analysis of products, supplier capabilities and services, technological changes, etc., for forecasting, budgeting and planning purposes
  • Educate end users on Purchasing Policies and Procedures to ensure their understanding of compliance requirements in the requisitioning for products, goods and services
  • Identify and implement long and short-term strategies and tactics to lower total costs of products, goods and services purchases through analysis of past spends, spending trends and buying habits
  • Maintenance of ongoing quality awareness and interaction with suppliers on quality issues
  • Strong understanding of audit compliance and accurate document maintenance; adheres to all financial/invoice authorization levels

About You

  • Post-secondary studies in materials/operations management and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • SCMP or APICS designation (attained or in progress) desired
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement management (health care environment preferred)
  • Sound knowledge of the BPS Accountability Act, materials management best practices and shared services initiatives
  • Experience in the development and application of purchasing related KPIs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to carry out projects or initiatives while working independently
  • Strong time and project management skills in order to effectively manage multiple priorities within tight timelines
  • Proven interpersonal skills to deal with all levels of the organization
  • Advanced MS Office computer literacy
  • Knowledge of computerized financial and purchasing systems (Meditech experience preferred)

Pay Range

$85,000
