LOOKING FOR AN EXPERIENCED DESIGNATED SENIOR ACCOUNTANT. Our client is looking for a Senior Accountant for a 9 month contract.

Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is accountable to the Manager, Accounting for the timely and accurate completion of various accounting activities for an assigned portfolio of real estate investments and for ensuring financial reporting is timely, accurate, and is completed in compliance with the company’s accounting policies and procedures.

About the Opportunity  

• General Accounting: Completes the day-to-day general ledger transactions (i.e. drafting and input of journal entries) in addition to assisting or managing the upload of accounting files received from outside managers into the accounting system in order to maintain an accurate and transparent accounting process
• Financial Reporting: Prepares and reviews a variety of financial reports/statements including but not limited to the monthly/quarterly financial statements and exception reports, and annual budget to ensure completeness and accuracy of head office transactions as well as the completeness, accuracy and integrity of statements/reports
• Bank Reconciliations and Tax Returns: Reviews and approves the monthly bank reconciliation and GST returns and prepares annual T2 corporate tax returns, in addition to identifying and/or resolving any discrepancies with statements and returns to ensure completeness, accuracies, and integrity of reports/returns. Co-ordinates completion of CRA audits arising in assigned portfolio
• Distribution of Earnings to Investors: Prepares the monthly release of cash distribution of earnings to investors through providing recommendation/approval of distributable amounts for release.
• Budgeting/Reforecasting and Year-End Audit: Participates in the forecast and budget process for corporate accounts and high level review of statements, including variance analysis. Assists with the year-end audit processes through the preparation and compilation of the head office working papers and financial statements in a timely manner, in addition to working with auditors to resolve queries
• Other Corporate Accounting Duties: Assists or completes ad hoc projects assigned by Manager or Controller (ex. assisting with the research, development and implementation of emerging technical accounting requirements or processes), to ensure that the corporate finance group is complying with current standards and is prepared for any changes to such standards in the future

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (i.e. Accounting or Business Administration), or equivalent
• Minimum 4 years of relevant accounting experience
• Accounting designation (CPA, CA)
• Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of MS Office applications
• Previous experience in the real estate industry is an asset    

Pay Range
$35/hour
