Senior Accountant

About the Company

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of tax reporting related to the various legal entities, including posting monthly entries, preparing financial statements, analysis of results and providing tax schedules. The individual will drive the automation of the legal entity accounting processes. In this role, you will also be responsible for Statistics Canada Reporting for all entities in the client company’s corporate structure. Additional responsibilities will include capital asset accounting and internal controls improvement initiatives and projects.

About the Opportunity  

Legal Entity Accounting & Tax Support

• Prepare financial statements for each entity on quarterly basis
• Provide accounting guidance on legal entity transactions based on ASPE
• Identify and analyze significant fluctuations on financial results and provide insight to management
• Ensure all necessary transactions and documentation is in place on a timely basis for legal entity transactions and sales/income tax reporting and remittances
• Support the accounting month-end process, including preparing and posting entries
• Provide all income tax details and other tax related filings for the legal entities
• Lead initiative to automate accounting process and financial statements for each legal entity
• Prepare schedules required for tax purposes including the T1135
• Calculate and prepare the income tax provision and deferred tax entries for each legal entity

Statistics Canada Reporting

• Prepare all Statistics Canada Reporting for the client company and each legal entity as required
• Liaise with Statistics Canada relating to any reporting questions or requirements

Capital Asset Accounting

• Responsible for all duties related to capital asset accounting including WIP, additions, disposals and calculating gains and losses
• Maintain and ensure accuracy of depreciation policies at an asset class level
• Maintain FAS (Fixed Asset System) by updating asset records, run monthly depreciation, leverage reporting for reconciliations, forecast and capital budgeting
• Work with the business to ensure completeness of ACE forms (Approval for Capital Expenditures)
• Develop and implement a fixed asset verification process
• Support the budgeting process as required

Other

• Initiate internal controls improvements, including the maintenance of finance key process work flows and SOP validation and completeness reviews
• Initiate, support and contribute to special projects, process improvements and automation

Salary Range
$70,000-$75,000/year
