About the Opportunity

  • Manage the payroll function for our Operations by planning, organizing, and participating in the timely preparation of multiple payrolls and ensuring the maintenance, consistency, timeliness and accuracy of monthly, quarterly and yearly payroll records
  • Identify, coach, mentor and recommend areas for improvements for a large payroll team to provide quality, seamless customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Provide leadership and direction to payroll team and leading by example
  • Oversee and review payrolls to ensure all financial and regulatory requirements are met
  • Develop and maintain policy and procedures related to payroll compliance
  • Monitor legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to regulatory reporting, Federal and Provincial payroll legislations
  • Plan and coordinate required regulatory filings including, but not limited to T4s, EHT, Workers Compensation
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with Senior Management, government agencies, third-party clients and team members
  • Being the Liaison with internal and external auditors, assist in the quarterly reviews and annual audits as it relates to Payroll
  • Ensure compliance with Corporate and External Auditor's control requirements
  • Initial set up of payroll requirements for acquisitions
  • Coordinate and review of requirements for divestitures
  • Ensure acquisitions or dispositions are integrated on a timely basis
  • Review for accuracy all accounts payable requisitions
  • Other duties as assigned

About You  

  • 5-7 years of experience in management positions in a large company
  • Experience in leading business process improvements, acquisitions, dispositions and system conversions.
  • Experience in managing the payroll function across Canada
  • Experience with ADP PCPW/EZ Labor preferred
  • Experience with large number of payroll schedules running on a concurrent basis
  • Post-secondary education an asset
  • Level 3 CPA certification or in progress
  • Strong computer skills – payroll software, Microsoft Office (required)
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls (Bill 198)
  • Good understanding of collective agreements, employment standards and payroll regulations
  • Strong project management capability
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated, creative and innovative
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Extraordinary attention to customer service
  • Bilingual (preferred)

Salary Range
$80,000 - $95,000/year
