MicroStrategy Architect/Team Lead - 12 Month Contract

About the Opportunity

  • Lead business intelligence/data warehouse solutions delivery across multiple programs/projects
  • Definition and continuous improvement of delivery model, methods, and processes, including responsibility for analysis, design, build and functions
  • Data management and integration
  • Information delivery
  • Big Data technologies
  • Lead capacity planning and monitoring activities by working closely with business, architecture, production support, development and infrastructure teams
  • Lead alignment and coordination of portfolio solution delivery with business, international, and enterprise technology stakeholders
  • Lead the supply and develop the technical competencies of delivery resources in order to meet the demands of the portfolio
  • Hiring, developing and managing employees
  • Coordinating, leveraging and influencing enterprise technology partners
  • Leveraging global delivery and other external services partners

Solution delivery experience: 

  • Dashboard applications
  • Master data management (MDM) repositories and services
  • Advanced analytic applications
  • Agile project methods

About You

  • Full lifecycle business intelligence solution delivery competencies, practices and components
  • Technical/functional requirements, data modeling, design, build, and testing processes
  • Improving delivery processes (quality and cycle time measures) and solution performance (batch and real-time service measures)  
  • National delivery models, vendors, resources and processes  
  • Enterprise data warehouse/business intelligence architecture and technology platforms
  • Experience running multiple database environments (DEV, UAT, PROD) on a mix CLOUD/PREMISES basis
  • Current core technologies MS BI Stack, ETL and ETL Optimization, SQL Server 2008-2012 and 2016 as a sandbox, T-SQL Databases, SSIS and related reporting tools/services
  • SQL server integration services 2008R2 as an Enterprise ETL Tool
  • Experience managing multiple databases with a focus on BI Data Warehouse and all integrations between corporate ERP systems
  • Experience managing table sizes up to 200GB
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions
  • Experience in database-related performance tuning
  • Experience in data preparation for Business Intelligence (Microstrategy)
  • Sound knowledge of Microstrategy development
  • Business Analyst/Project Management experience preferred but not required
  • Working knowledge of other top tier and emerging vendors and products
  • Technology evaluation and selection of various information delivery technologies  
  • Expertise in designing and implementing metadata management tools and technologies
  • Written and verbal communication -  technical team direction to senior management presentations  

Additional Skills and Attributes:

  • Technical Knowledge: A solid understanding of current technology capabilities, and a keen interest in staying abreast of emerging technology trends and opportunities
  • Business Knowledge: An understanding of the health care sector is preferred but not required
  • Communication: Effectively communicate (written and verbal) technical team direction to senior management. Demonstrate an adaptive style for gaining the engagement, cooperation and commitment of others.
  • Problem Solving and Decision Making: Demonstrate outstanding analytical and diagnostic skills when dealing with complex issues and uncertainty, and the ability to make sound decisions quickly while carefully evaluating risks and alternatives before taking action. Possesses strong negotiation and collaboration skills, and effectively consults and communicates with key stakeholders regarding critical decisions.

Adhere to financial policies and procedures, and operate transparently and credibly to manage expenses. Actively engage in the creation and maintenance of delivery estimation models and estimates, and take responsibility for their accuracy and the financial performance of the delivery organization.
