Manager of Taxation

Our client is one of Canada’s leaders in the Food industry headquartered in Toronto. They are growing their Tax department and are searching for a Manager to join their dynamic team. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Taxation, the successful candidate will play a critical role within the tax department and will have tax reporting responsibilities for the Corporate Group, as well as one of the largest Canadian businesses. Key accountabilities include tax financial reporting, management of the Canadian tax reporting cycle, and Canadian international tax compliance responsibilities.

About the Opportunity  

• Coordinate and prepare consolidated quarterly income tax provisions, financial statement notes, and internal tax reporting packages for the group, and respond to requests from external auditors
• Coordinate and prepare Canadian corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns for the corporate group and the other business
• Assist in the overall tax reporting cycle of the corporate group and business legal entities, including preparation of book-to-file adjustments, forecasting cash taxes payable, and responding to Canadian tax authority queries
• Coordinate and prepare Canadian international tax filings, such as T1134s and country-by-country reporting requirements, for the company and its affiliated companies
• Determine and maintain tax attribute accounts, including foreign affiliate surplus pools
• Perform tax research based on current and proposed tax legislation, including preparing tax memoranda, as required

About You

• Designated Chartered Professional Accountant or equivalent with 3-5 years of experience in a comparable tax or technical role
• Income tax provision and Canadian domestic and international tax compliance experience in a professional services firm and/or industry
• Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to liaise with all levels of management
• Strong organizational and analytical skills with a proven ability to handle multiple priorities and see projects to completion
• Current knowledge and experience with International Financial Reporting Standards
• Ability to work collaboratively with peers and colleagues to deliver results
• Experience in corporate tax research and preparing tax memoranda an asset
• Experience with accounting systems (i.e. SAP or Hyperion) an asset

Salary Range
$85,000-$100,000/year
