Financial Reporting Manager

About the Opportunity  

Reporting to the Controller, the Financial Reporting Manager will support a team that is charged with ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the periodic financial reports, commentary, and related schedules, including consolidations. The Financial Reporting Manager will be responsible for maintaining an effective team of direct reports, building relationships, both internally and externally, and have the ability to communicate effectively to varying audiences. The Financial Reporting Manager will assist the Controller in the administration of corporate policies, capital expenditure processes, payroll processes, taxation, treasury, loss prevention and continuous process improvement.

Financial Accounting and Reporting

  • Timely and accurate compilation of month-end financial reporting, including multi-company consolidations, related management reporting, and commentary
  • Manage month-end planning and accounting close schedules for all entities
  • Review financial accounting processes and controls for issues and make recommendations for improvement
  • Review account reconciliations prepared by two General Accountants that report to this position
  • Coordinate activities of external auditors and various tax authorities
  • Prepare tax provision for all entities
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual board of director reports
  • Perform various analytical tasks including review of monthly P&Ls and provide commentary on variances
  • Support the transition of acquisitions and expansion in the business
  • Track business results and cash flow
  • Assist with the preparation of financial plans and budgets
  • Review external reporting regulations for compliance

Leadership

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the reporting team
  • Oversee training, balance workflow, and prepare performance reviews for the reporting team
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate employees while enabling them to achieve peak productivity and performance
  • Liaise with various external groups, including auditors and bank contacts

Continuous Improvement

  • Manage the development, enhancement and maintenance of financial systems
  • Participate in continuing education and encourage the same of your team
  • Look for opportunities to streamline the month-end close process
  • Complete other tasks and special projects as requested

About You

  • Chartered Accountant designation (CPA, CA)
  • Experience with financial statement preparation including consolidations
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (PeopleSoft preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel
  • Prior experience with managing people and proven leadership ability
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to perform under pressure and adjust plans to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Understanding of basic consolidation theory
  • Basic understanding of corporation taxation in Canada

Salary Range
$90,000-$105,000/year
