Financial Reporting Manager

About the Opportunity

Reporting and Analysis

• and accurate production of quarterly financial submissions to Corporate Accounting for PLIC Retro, PLRB and PLRC and any other regulators as required
• Timely Analysis of actual financial results against plan and prior periods by providing commentary on a quarterly basis.
• Manage the preparation of the Quarterly Balance Sheet pack that indicates the reasons for the quarterly change in all balance sheet accounts
  • Manage the preparation of quarterly/annual statutory exhibits and supplementary data for PLIC-Retro’s portion of the total company reporting
  • Interact with Marsh Barbados to ensure that all regulatory reporting requirements and compliance activities are satisfied for PLRB/PLRC
  • Communicate analysis of premium/claims/ER data at PU/treaty level to key stakeholders
  • Support the monthly RSA adequacy compliance exercise for Manulife

Manage and develop staff effectively to:

• Manage workflow and achieve departmental Calendar targets
• Achieve team and BU goals as well as individual performance standards

Annual Audit of legal entity financial statements

• Liaise with external auditors to ensure that the annual financial statements are audited and signed off by each Board within required timeline
• Liaise with Corporate Accounting and Divisional Management to successfully produce accurate and complete financial statements

PL Retro’s expert in U.S. GAAP accounting policy

About You

• Professional accounting designation (CA/CMA/CGA)
• Minimum of 6 years accounting experience with solid exposure to financial reporting and analysis
• Demonstrated strength in the use of MS Excel, MS Access, Cognos, Essbase, PeopleSoft
• Good understanding of different bases of accounting (IFRS, USGAAP, US Stat and US Tax)
• Good understanding of reinsurance/insure accounting and knowledge of actuarial concepts
• Strong interpersonal/negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships with different functional areas
• Excellent analytical, problems solving and technical accounting skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline driven environment
• Flexibility to work overtime at quarter end and year end

Salary Range
$75,000 - $110,000/year
