ARE YOU A SEASONED ENTERPRISE ARCHITECT WHO WORKS WITH BOTH APPLICATIONS AND INFRASTRUCTURE SOLUTIONS? Our public sector client is looking for a contract Architect for an 11 month engagement in downtown Toronto.

Enterprise IT Solutions Architect – 11 Month Contract

The Solutions Architect will work within the Enterprise Architecture practice to plan, implement and track the execution of the roadmap, with the goal of delivering successful integrated solutions. The Solution Architect’s primary role will be to design and lead the technical delivery of the roadmap in the environment.

About the Opportunity

  • Developing the blueprint for the migration and consolidation of applications
  • Define web standards, platforms, best practices, frameworks, tools and methodologies for the delivery of the digital roadmap
  • Providing reference architectures and models to the implementation teams
  • Assessing costs and dependencies for migration
  • Assessing and evaluating suitability of third-party solutions
  • Developing suitable timelines and milestones for achieving the goals outlined in the roadmap
  • Assessing current state environment and providing options to achieve goals outlined in the Roadmap
  • Identifying risks and mitigation strategies
  • Developing and maintaining appropriate artefacts and documents describing decisions and solutions
  • Communicating with key stakeholders including Information Services, Systems Development, Technology Services and Security Services
  • Contributing technical designs to artifacts, including Solution Design Document, Functional Requirements and RFP
  • Set the technology direction by recommending specific technologies to pursue, suggesting training and staff development activities as needed

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical area of study (computer science, mathematics, engineering, etc.) or other BS/BA degree with a concentration in computer science or information systems
  • Total IT experience of at least 12 years out of which 3 years involved doing solution architectures on large projects - applications and infrastructure
  • Proven experience at leading IT architecture of a large program from initiation to implementation
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Solid experience with a variety of technologies/approaches including Mobile, J2EE, Web services, Cloud, IT infrastructure
  • Experienced with program/projects involving complex integration of disparate types of technologies/platforms
  • Solid understanding of Agile (RUP, UML and UML tools)
  • Project management experience highly desirable
  • Experience in architecting/developing systems in a team environment
  • Experienced with all aspects of architecture including application, data, security and infrastructure
  • Strong leadership skills, comfortable managing large cross functional technical teams and ability to define, influence and impact the technical direction
  • Ability to provide effective leadership in managing issues
  • Ability to quickly evaluate options, make decisions and execute within a high demand environment
