About the Company

This role places you at the right hand of the Head of Finance and you will be actively involved in managing a team of direct reports. You will be responsible, and relied on, for all of the accounting, treasury, tax and cash management of the company. About the Opportunity  

  • Establish maintain appropriate internal controls over financial reporting in compliance with corporate standards
  • Ensure complete and accurate reporting of financial results to all stakeholders on a timely basis
  • Provide leadership in financial system improvements
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures
  • Understand business issues at strategic and tactical levels and their impact on financial reporting
  • Manage the month-end reporting process and ensure a timely and accurate close of month-end financials
  • Lead, develop and communicate Accounting department objectives supported by a detailed plan of action that is both measurable and attainable
  • Plan, review, assess, coordinate, delegate, resolve, make final recommendations and implements such other Special Projects and assignments as required by the Director of Finance
  • Leader in following up on Accounts Receivable & Inventory issues to ensure timely collections and adequate controls
  • Monitor needs and develop staff within the department
  • Introduce, develop and execute internal reports that will reduce errors and highlight problems
  • Introduce, develop and execute enhanced external reports to senior management that will improve communication and understanding of financial results
  • Responsible for the timely reconciliation of all Balance Sheet accounts
  • Assure good communication and relationship both internally and externally
  • Monitor and develop the Accounting Organization, develop position descriptions and standards of performance for each reporting position
  • Maintain a keen interest in the accounting profession, staying on top of current developments in accounting theory
  • Coordinate the external audit; maintain a close working relationship with the Company’s external auditors and satisfactorily resolve all issues raised by the auditors
  • Maintain an effective capital expenditure control system
  • Minimize banking fees by 1) organizing internal processes to minimize fees and 2) compare fees charged for similar services by competitive banks
  • Complete all Credit Facility covenants and file within mandated deadlines
  • Maintain a familiarity with changing ASPE requirements; analyze the impact on the organization and present summaries of material impact to management

About You

  • University degree or college diploma
  • Accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)
  • 5 years’ work related experience, including exposure outside of an accounting department e.g. internal audit, conversions,
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skill and leadership qualities
  • Initiative
  • Corporate and entrepreneurial perspective
  • Motivated, intuitive, decisive, confident
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) and experience with Great Plains
  • Able to work with all levels of employees

Salary Range
$70,000 - $80,000/year
