Accounting & Finance Manager – 12 Month Contract

About the Opportunity  

  • Oversee financial records for 2 operating entities including processing of general ledger entries, reconciliation of accounts and balancing of subsidiary and cost ledgers
  • Conduct analytical review and reconciliation of intercompany accounts with affiliated entities, subsidiaries and joint ventures
  • Coordinate and facilitate the preparation of year-end working papers for the operating companies, affiliated entities, subsidiaries and joint venture projects
  • Liaise with external accounting firm on a regular basis for any work related to year-end, tax planning and other business matters as required
  • Monthly bank reconciliations, monitoring of investments accounts and facilitate bank transfers on a timely basis
  • Oversee accounts payable, receivables, collections, bank deposits, various vendors, contractors and employee expenses, including review of commissions payable
  • Monitor cash requirements and providing cash report on a weekly basis
  • Manage HST, payroll, WSIB, EHT, corporate tax remittances and other government reporting requirements
  • Stay current with all regulations, practices, tax laws, reporting requirements and industry trends
  • Provide coherent business recommendations
  • Financial Reporting & Analytics
    • Provide coherent business recommendations and relevant financial reporting, planning and analysis
    • Assist the President in the preparation of financial projections i.e. review of sales and cost matrix, including collection and analysis of historical data
    • Prepare/Review various financial reporting and analytics to support the project management, due diligence or any deal execution process as required
  • Monitor project costs and analyze variances
  • Ensure proper accounting treatment of costs in accordance with all applicable agreements and accounting principles
  • Oversee sales performance and sales operating costs
  • Leadership & Business Support
    • Provide financial leadership and business support to the Company and effectively liaise with External Partners
    • Act as key contact for external accountants, lawyers, joint venture’ co-owners, bank officers, project consultants and other third party business partners
    • Provide mentorship to accounting staff on new accounting regulations and system implementations
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory governance
  • Review and ensure legal records are complete and accurate
  • Manage bank loan covenants
  • Monitor existing procedures and processes to ensure adequate controls are in place and recommend revisions as required
  • Coordinate any financial system analysis and implementations as required
  • Supervise and/or participate in special projects assigned by management, as required
  • Other ad hoc duties as requested by the President Financial Reporting & Analytics

About You

  • University degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or Commerce with at least 7 years of relevant experience
  • CPA, CA/CMA designation; within the last 2 years
  • Strong technical accounting skills 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and managerial skills
  • Strong financial acumen with exceptional analytical skills – ability to quickly absorb information on a variety of complex business issues (financial and non-financial) and provide insights on key issues and prepare presentations
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel
  • Good judgment – ability to determine which issues to escalate vs to resolve independently, and provide suggestions for possible resolution

Pay Range 
$35/hour
